Art of NonViolence

February 5 - April 2, 2018
Location: Taos Community Auditorium Encore Gallery

The TCA Exhibits program is partnering with NonviolenceWorks Inc. (NVW) for a 3rd year in presenting courageous images created by students from Taos Middle School, Taos Charter School, and Questa High School. With the theme of “How has violence impacted me?” students will explore and utilize art as a means to express, process, and convey their feelings toward the social and personal effects of violence. This theme is poignant in context of the recent tragedies nationally and internationally.

Over the next two months NVW will explore the power of the arts through visual images, presentations and discussions to give voice to the NVW mission: To inspire, train and empower all people to lead lives of nonviolence. We hope you find come to see these powerful and challenging voices

In twelve years of serving the greater Taos community, NVW has provided opportunities for youth and adults to voice their fears and lessons regarding the use of violence. Whether in Nonviolence Communication classes or therapeutic afterschool programs, staff hold a safe place for voices to be heard, reflections supported and new patterns identified.

NVW is located at 1337 E and F Gusdorf Rd. Taos, NM 87571. 575-758-4392 or www.nonviolenceworks.us. P.O. Box 2238 Taos, 87571

These events are planned for TCA’s various venues: the auditorium, Encore Gallery, and Stables Gallery. Most events, but not all, are sponsored by TCA. Submit your TCA event here.
